Mike Adams
Managing Director
Licensed Building Practitioner
I'm a born and bred New Plymouth builder and project manager with over 20 years in construction, the last ten-plus of those self-employed.
I keep BUILT deliberately small, just me. This allows me to maintain a high standard of workmanship and means I get to do the job I love, everyday. Work with me and you're not handed off to an inexperienced foreman and apprentices to manage your job. You get me, start to finish.
That doesn't limit what I can take on. I've built up a trusted network of subcontractors over the years who understand the standard I expect. Small job or large-scale build, you get the same oversight and quality control, backed by the right people when the scope calls for it.
Independent project management and advice have become a natural extension of that. Clients don't just come to me to build, they come to make sense of a project before it starts, because I understand scope, sequencing, and what a job actually takes to do properly. When it comes to independent advice, my role is to assess the job objectively, without any stake in the outcome. Whether it's weighing up a house purchase, working out if a renovation will actually add the value you're after, or simply wanting honest building advice with no agenda attached, I'll give you a straight, unbiased answer.
I still love the work itself. I'd rather be hands-on with a tape measure than stuck behind a desk, and that hasn't changed in twenty years.
Above all, I pride myself on being straight up, transparent, honest, and easy to deal with. No jargon, no surprises, no chasing me for updates. Just a builder who does what he says, and treats every project like it’s my own.
